The history of Inflexyon takes us back to 2006, the year our French language school for people who want to learn French in France was founded. Ever since the beginning, our main idea is to offer an innovative and dynamic French studying programmes individually tailored to our students preferences. Qualified French teachers
Each student is approached with attention to his or hers needs in a warm, familial manner by our supportive team. Our professors are all certified as French foreign language teachers. Moreover, they have all experience of living abroad and thus can perfectly understand the difficulties of the students who are in daily contact with a culture that is foreign to them. Innovative teaching methods to learn French quickly
The goal of being closer to the needs of its students, Inflexyon offers six different levels in three main groups:
- Beginner (A1 and A2): This level is for those who do not speak or speak only little French. From the very beginning, our French lessons are given exclusively in French and develop your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills so that you can deal with the daily life situations in France.
- Intermediate (B1 and B2): This level is for those who have already learned French in the past and want to improve it. The focus is on all four skills, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and cultural specificities.
- Advanced (C1 and C2): This level is for those who already master the French language but still want to continue and go further in certain aspects of the language. Inflexyon gives them a large choice of specialized courses like French business affairs, translation, etc.
Every four weeks, there is an evaluation helping to check your progression. Our teachers have also formal meetings twice per month in order to discuss about the students progression.
When learning French in Inflexyon in Lyon, you can forget the textbooks. Our head teacher prepares the curriculum according to the students needs mixing resources from several textbooks, teaching methods, media and games. The course content respects the CEFR level definitions and is adapted each month according to the progression of the students enrolled in the French classes.
In Inflexyon, students do not adapt to the teaching program, the teaching program adapts to the students.

Orientation day
Let’s start with our orientation days! You’ve just arrived in a new city and you don’t necessarily know the language and the customs of the place, so you can easily get confused and feel overwhelmed. In order to prevent this to happen to our students, on Mondays, we show our new students the most important places and give them all the information they need to “survive” in Lyon. During this orientation day, you’ll discover the Confluence and Perrache neighborhood (where our school is located) and also the bakeries, supermarkets in the area in order to know where to get lunch. Moreover, we’ll bring you to the TCL agency on the Bellecour square where you can subscribe to the public transportation system and get your Pass.
Visits of Lyon neighbourhoods Croix Rousse, Confluence, Vieux Lyon and Fourvière
Once you’ve settled down, you’d like to go and discover Lyon. That’s why we’re organizing visits of several neighborhoods of the city. This also gives you the chance to get to know other students and make new friends. We’re offering you,for instance, a visit of the old town, the Croix Rousse neighborhood, the Confluence and the Fourvière. All the Lyon neighbourhoods have a unique atmosphere and none of them are alike, so each time you get the chance to discover new gems like hidden tiny streets (the Traboules), painted walls, statues or historical buildings. Moreover, it’s not rare for us to end up a visit with a good ice cream, pancakes or a hot chocolate.
Museums
Once you’ve enjoyed picturesque walks in Lyon neighbourhoods, you’ll also want to know more about Lyon’s history and customs. In this regard, the Guignol museum is a good address. You can learn many interesting facts about the French puppet which has been created in Lyon in the 19th century. Moreover, have a blast and visit the Confluence Museum – a must in Lyon! The city offers plenty of very different types of museums: the silk museum, the printing museum, the museum of fine arts, miniature, cinema, resistance, etc. So, one thing is for sure, whether you stay one week or one yer, you’re not going to get bored with the cultural activities of Inflexyon!
Outdoor activities
Apart from the museums, we’re offering also many other fun activities outside the school: from a paperchase in the Grand Hôtel Dieu, to the Villeurbanne festival, or relaxing at the Tête d’or parc, or even further away at the Grand Parc Miribel Jonage, where you can even jump in the water. Moreover, let’s not forget about our pique-niques, that we often organize, and during which international students get to try typical French specialities! There are also pétanque afternoons, this famous French game everyone has heard about and which is not only for old people!
Indoor activities
In our school, we’re learning French while having fun after classes, with the many cultural activities organized in our foyer that everyone can join! We share good conversation while playing board games, drawing, or making posters during one of our creative workshops, or making our own ice cream (which by the way was really good!). We also watch French movies and explain the university system every month.
Theme evenings
To escape the daily grind and immerse yourself in the French culture, we organize theme evenings during the year, like for instance our pancake evening of Chandeleur and an egg hunt in Easter. Then, we also like to celebrate carnival, Bastille day, Halloween and Christmas. And let’s not forget our summer party on the Saone river banks with the treasure hunt.
Lyon Langues and meetings with French people
Besides, our school gives you the unique opportunity to be in contact with French students. Our evening school Lyon Langues offers English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and German language courses to French people. You will also use and practice French vocabulary and structures you have learnt during the day at school, and this is the best and the most natural way to progress fast in French language. Go out, meet people and speak French
Do not stay all the time at home revising your French grammar exercises. The advantage of being in France is that there is French everywhere around you. Lyon is a great city offering a tremendous choice of activities. Many local associations offer the activities for a small budget. If you like shopping, go for some shopping and ask the shop assistants as many questions in French as you can. If you like sports, join a local sport club in Lyon in order to practice your favourite sport and your French at the same time. If you like cooking, sign up for some cooking classes in French.
